1900 – 2025
A story of passion and know-how
Since its foundation in 1900, the Varone family business has followed the major developments in Swiss and Valais winegrowing. Philippe Varone is the fourth generation of an independent and daring family line. A trailblazer, he dared to overturn formatted ideas of wine tasting. He was the first to take into account the specificity of each palate when choosing a wine.
Maison Varone continues to write its history with ambition. By establishing itself as a key player in the Valais wine industry, it is ensuring a solid future for its values, its wines and its commitment to tradition and innovation.

1900 – 2025
125 years of Varone
A passion handed down from generation to generation
Since 1900, the Varone Vins family business has kept pace with the major changes in Swiss and Valais winegrowing. A visionary from the outset, we were the first to offer our wines in small containers, and to differentiate between bottled and open wines. This bold approach is rapidly making inroads with gourmets and consumers alike, both in Switzerland and abroad.
In the 1920s, founder Frédéric Varone saw the importance of strong brands and launched iconic references, including Fendant Soleil du Valais and Dôle Valéria. These wines were to become veritable signatures.

A strategic turning point
In 1992, a new step was taken: Varone joined forces with Bonvin 1858 Les Domaines to create Celliers de Champsec, a strategic alliance aimed at optimizing resources and developing synergies.
Today, at the instigation of Philippe Varone, President of the City of Sion, the company has entrusted its management to Celliers de Sion, headed by David Héritier. This strengthened collaboration has resulted in a joint sales force and the creation of Switzerland’s first OEnoparc, a unique place dedicated to the discovery of wine at the foot of spectacular terraced vineyards.
A legacy for the future
With four generations of passion and expertise, Varone continues to write its history with ambition.
By establishing itself as a key player in the Valais wine industry, it is ensuring a solid future for its values, its wines and its commitment to tradition and innovation.
