Company founded in 1858
More than 150 vintages from the hillsides of Valais
Bonvin 1858 is the oldest wine house in Valais. It has played a major role in raising the profile of Swiss wines, and more specifically, the Valais AOC.
Charles Bonvin cultivates 23.5 hectares of vineyards on the finest hillsides of central Valais: terraced vineyards facing due south, with arid limestone schist soils that give his wines their remarkable minerality.
The exceptional conditions of the Bonvin vineyards, cultivated using integrated production techniques, as well as the winery equipped with modern facilities, explain the success of these wines with such a fitting name.
The awards won in competitions, as well as the title of Swiss Winery of the Year 2014, are a testament to artisanal expertise honed over more than 150 vintages.
Traditions & Craftsmanship
Expertise honed over more than 150 vintages
Since 1858, Charles Bonvin has made a significant contribution to the reputation of Swiss wines, and more specifically to the Valais Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC).
The awards won in competitions, as well as the title of Swiss Winery of the Year 2014 at the Grand Prix du Vin Suisse, are a testament to a tradition of artisanal expertise passed down uninterrupted.
Over the past 160 years, the company has adapted to every change in the industry: from viticulture to direct sales, and then to wine tourism.

Terraced vineyards facing due south, planted on arid limestone-schist soils: a demanding terroir that gives the wines their minerality.
The Vineyard
23.5 hectares on the finest hillsides
Composed of intrepid vintners, the Bonvin family undertook major projects, transforming their steep vineyards into magnificent estates and patiently building a prestigious winemaking legacy on the finest hillside in the Rhône Valley.
Charles Bonvin has made it his mission to highlight the diversity of the terroirs and the authenticity of his wines. These wines are marketed under their estate names: Brûlefer, Clos du Château, Terra Cotta, Château Conthey, Plan Loggier, and Mont Fleuri.
A wide variety of indigenous grape varieties are grown here: Petite Arvine, Amigne, Humagne, and Cornalin, as well as world-renowned varieties that have adapted perfectly to the terraced vineyards of the Rhône Valley, such as white Marsanne and Syrah.
Master winemakers cultivate them using environmentally friendly methods (integrated production).
We invite you to come discover this winery, deeply rooted in the Valais region and a symbol of heroic viticulture, which has cultivated vineyards clinging to the clouds. For over 160 years, the winery has never stopped evolving: from viticulture to sales and now to wine tourism. This winery will always surprise you… But its identity remains tied to an exceptional heritage. Following the example of the greatest French wine houses, Bonvin 1858 has established itself over time thanks to the quality of its terroirs and the renown of its “Domaine” wines.
This is evidenced by the prestigious "Swiss Winery of the Year" award, which we received in 2014 at the Grand Prix du Vin Suisse. A local winery producing wines full of character awaits you!

Bonvin 1858 and Les Celliers de Sion
In 1992, Bonvin joined forces with Philippe Varone Vins to found Les Celliers de Champsec with the aim of creating synergies.
Today, these two partners are strengthening their collaboration by creating a joint sales force and Switzerland’s first Oenoparc at the foot of the spectacular terraced vineyard.
Les Celliers de Sion, led by David Héritier, is emerging as a premier meeting place for consumers and winemakers.
